“Ding” Darling lecture series takes wing with butterflies

Tom Allen, wildlife author and former biologist for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, will make a guest appearance on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 1 p.m. in the Education Center at Sanibel’s J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

Allen, who has written two books about butterflies, will speak about the nectar and host plants that attract some of our more common butterflies and the types of vegetation residents can plant around their yards to attract them.

Admission is free to the event, which is sponsored by the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge. Seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.

For more information, call 472-1100 ext. 241.
