Tom Allen, wildlife author and retired research biologist, will make a guest appearance on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. in the Education Center at Sanibel’s J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
Allen, who formerly worked for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission on a special burrowing owl project, will speak about the species of owls found in this area and their habit and needs. He will also look at the types of structures residents can put up to attract the birds.
Admission is free to the event, which is sponsored by the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge. Seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.
