Sobczak introduces his new Living Sanibel book at ‘Ding’ lecture series Sanibel author Charles Sobczak will make a special guest appearance to speak about his latest book, Living Sanibel: A Nature Guide to Sanibel & Captiva Islands, on Thursday, March 11, at 1 p.m. in the “Ding” Darling Education Center. Newly released in February 2010, this comprehensive field guide to the birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fishes, shells, insects, and plants found on Sanibel and Captiva islands contains more than 650 color photographs and illustrations to help identify the rich diversity of life found here. The book concludes with a guide to all the island museums and eco-attractions and a detailed map section of all the bike paths and trails of Sanibel and Captiva. Admission is free to the lecture, which is sponsored by the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge as part of its Thursday Afternoon Lecture Series. Seating is limited and available on a first-come basis.
