12/12/12 Holly-Day Deals

Skip the mall crowds and big-box stores. Shop for unique, truly Sanibel items during the “Ding” Darling Refuge Nature Store’s Holly-Day event on Wednesday, Dec. 12 (a.k.a. 12/12/12), from 12 noon to 4 p.m.

In honor of the 12/12/12 date, the store will put its new Photography Contest note cards up for a 12 percent discount that day only.  Also, the store will showcase a sales table of items  that are specially discounted up to 50 percent exclusively for Holly-Day.

The Nature Store will be selling its new line of privately labeled Naples Soap bars and other of its new 30 items to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS), which operates the store for the benefit of the Refuge.

Holiday music and free spiced hot cider will set a festive mood for Holly-Day. Plan on guest appearances from the Holiday Blue Goose for picture-taking. Free gift-wrapping with  recycled holiday paper is available.

In addition to the Holly-Day special offerings, shoppers will find a complete line of birding and nature books, toys, clothing, fine binoculars, and other unique gifts.

The 2012 Luc Century limited-edition etched-glass ornament will be available, this year showcasing a mother manatee and calf. Artist Century is known for his work on the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., and his annual Refuge ornaments are collector’s items.

The Refuge Nature Store is located within the free “Ding” Darling Education Center. Plan on visiting the new Marvelous Manatee and other free exhibits while there.

All proceeds from Refuge Nature Store sales go directly to programs benefiting wildlife and conservation education at the refuge.
