Artist 'in Residence'

In the spirit of our namesake, Jay Norwood "Ding" Darling - artist and Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist - we open the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Refuge with an Artist 'in Residence' program through July 1, 2019. Support for the program is provided by a grant from the Rockwell Fund.

Wildlife artist Ed Anderson from Boise, Idaho, will be working from his Sanibel Island studio and, by day, onsite at the Refuge. Public events will include Pop-Up Studios on Wildlife Drive, where visitors can watch the artist at work and chat with him, and two Friday Art Journal Walks, to include an artist's briefing, a free journal, and an art adventure along Indigo Trail
