Artist 'in Residence'

In the spirit of our namesake, Jay Norwood "Ding" Darling - artist and Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist - we open the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Refuge with an Artist 'in Residence' program through July 1, 2019. Support for the program is provided by a grant from:

Wildlife artist Ed Anderson from Boise, Idaho, will be working from his Sanibel Island studio and, by day, onsite at the Refuge. Public events will include Pop-Up Studios on Wildlife Drive, where visitors can watch the artist at work and chat with him, and two Friday Art Journal Walks, to include an artist's briefing, a free journal, and an art adventure along Indigo Trail
