The J. N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge and the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge would like to announce the donation of $10,000 to area schools for conservation education-related projects. This money can be used to fund new classroom science projects, promote stewardship, purchase teaching aids, acquire classroom materials, and to conduct work projects in your community or beyond. Schools in the three-county area (Lee, Collier, and Charlotte) are invited to submit Environmental Education or Science related unit proposals. The deadline to submit proposals is October 31, 2018. Approved projects will be announced in December 2018.
Criteria for projects:
1. Projects should have an Environmental Education or Conservation focus.
2. Each classroom proposal should not exceed $1,000; school- and district-wide proposals should not exceed $3,000.
3. Progress of project and proper documentation needs to be submitted by the end of the school year, June 2019. This documentation includes pictures, receipts and a summary report.
